Anyone can have a boil, which is a skin problem that takes place when there’s an infection in the hair follicle caused by bacteria. Boils start small and they grow in size and become very red and painful.
Sometimes, they are accompanied by fever. If you notice that you have a boil, it is important to begin treatment at the very first sign. Thankfully, you can get rid of boils or skin abscesses at the comforts of your home.
Here are some of the effective treatments for boils:
Black Seed
This one is quite popular when it comes to curing skin infections, such as boils. Black seeds can provide pain relief as well. Here’s what you should do:
- Grind some black seeds until they turn into a paste.
- Apply the paste on the boil.
An alternative is to simply use black seed oil and apply directly onto the boil. You can also add half a teaspoon of the oil to your drinks, which you should consume twice daily until the boil disappears.
Tea Tree Oil
This oil has antifungal, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties. Use tea tree oil regularly to speed up the healing process and even provide relief as you treat your boil. Follow these simple steps:
- Take a cotton swab and dip into the oil.
- Gently apply on the boil.
- Treat your boil with tea tree oil at least twice a day until the boil is eliminated.
Some people get skin irritation when they use this oil. Make sure you perform a patch test first before using it. Don’t ever swallow this oil.
Turmeric
This spice is well-known for its many health benefits, including being a natural blood purifier. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat your boils. To use turmeric, do the following steps:
- Boil a teaspoon of the spice powder.
- Add it in a glass of milk. You can also add it to plain water.
- Drink the mixture three times a day for up to five days.
An alternative is to make a paste by grinding equal amounts of ginger and turmeric. Apply onto the boil and use a clean cloth for cover. Let it stay there for the whole night.
When treating your boil, make sure you don’t poke it or try to burst it. This will worsen the infection and may even cause more boils to pop up because the infection has spread.
